Vertical Crevice Gardens

The vertical crevice garden at the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art, Toronto, was created by Neil Turnbull Ltd as a gift to the museum — a living installation celebrating the artistry of rock garden design. Vertical crevice gardens are among the most technically demanding and visually striking forms of rock garden design, with plants growing from near-vertical stone faces in a way that mimics alpine and cliff environments. Neil Turnbull Ltd pioneered this approach in Toronto, and this institutional commission stands as one of the firm’s landmark public works.
